Two Arunachalee archers to represent India at Asian GP
ITANAGAR, Jul 15: Two Archers from Arunachal Pradesh will represent the country at 2nd Asian Grand Prix Archery Championship to be held in Ullanbaatoar, Mongolia from July 26 to August two.
Sorang Yumi and Maselo Mihu of Sangey Lhaden Sports Acedemy along with Coach Kh. Ekasini Devi have been selected to represent India at 2nd Asian Grand Prix Archery Championship,” Sports and Youth Affairs Assistant Director Tadar Apa informed in a release.
Promising archer Genung Teksing has also been selected for undergo training at national archery coaching camp for men and women at Pune. The 20 days coaching camp is being conducted to train the selected archers of the country for various international tournaments to be held during 2013.

Orientation training for fishermen begins
ITANAGAR, Jul 15: Five days orientation training on ‘principles of fish seed farm management’ for fishermen began at Fish Farmers Training Centre, Emchi, Doimukh today.
Inaugurating training, J Taba, Director of Fisheries, exhorted the participants to attend all the practical trainings and learn from the resource persons on induced breeding and hatchery management.
Explaining the objective of the training, which aims to refresh and update the knowledge and to familiarize the participants with the advancement in technology and ever changing management practices, Taba suggested all the participants to apply practically what they have learnt from the training for effective management of fish seed farms for better production.

Union demands posting of adequate teachers
ITANAGAR, Jul 15: All Upper Subansiri District Students Union (AUSDSU) has appealed to the higher authorities of education department and district administration for immediate solution to the teachers’ shortage problem in various schools of the district.

SRI technology introduced at Kabu
AALO Jul 15: In one of its endeavors to intensify rice production in West Siang District a team of Agriculture Development Officers comprising of Nyage Loya, Nitum Riba, Jarny Yomcha and Jumdo Jini introduced System of Rice Intensification, an improved technology in rice production at WRC field at Kabu village on July 11 last.
The introduction of this method of paddy cultivation is first of its kind in this part of the district where the conventional methods are prevalent.
Around 30 farmers of Kabu village performed this scientific transplanting method under the guidance and supervision of team of departmental officers. The SRI is a proven technology as it is equipped with certain desirable traits. This method requires lesser seed rate, minimizes labour needs, and gives comparatively higher yields than the conventional methods of paddy cultivation.
In addition to this all agricultural operations could be done scientifically through farm tools and manual labours. The agriculture department has also decided to train more number of farmers in coming days in order to implement this technology to cover greater areas in West Siang district. DIPRO

CM affirms commitment to 1 lakh job creation in private sector
New Delhi, Jul 15: As a part of the CM’s 1 lakh Employment Generation Programme, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki announced to conduct a Mass Recruitment Rally in the state capital Itanagar on 30th August next for large scale employment generation in the private sector.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after a meeting with Skill Development Training Providers held under his Chairmanship at New Delhi today. The scope for strengthening the institutional infrastructure for skill development for the benefit of the youth in the state was the primary agenda of the meeting where national level vocational training providers from diverse sectors like textiles, beauty and wellness, hydropower, infrastructure, security etc, made their presentations for the long term engagement with the state.
In the rally, all the training providers will be present and apprise about various facets of their training programmes. Tuki was happy to note that almost 80% of the trainees would be getting placements after their respective trainings.
The Chief Secretary H.K Paliwal, who was present in the meeting, explained that the State Government would take necessary initiatives for providing adequate infrastructure to the training providers so that the candidates could avail the training within the state itself.

Bridge threatened by turbulent Siku river

Bridge between Ayeng and Mebo on National Highway-
The perennial stream is collecting plenty water at upper reaches, from the confluence of Siku and Sirum streams flowing down from Adi Pasi and Haohali areas respectively. Strong current of the river has posed serious threat to the bridge by eroding its right approach road.
Siku river also has eroded several acres of fertile land on both sides. It has been changing its course and taking its turn towards right side. Several hectares of cropland at Ayeng village have been swallowed by the river increasing its size by 10 fold over the last decade.
Locals said that though the authority concerned has been informed of the problems created by the river on several occasions, no effective measure has been initiated to control the flow of water.
It is observed the right abutment of the RCC bridge is breached by Siku river every year during monsoon disrupting road communication.

The local people are in apprehension of the fact that surging water of Siku river might enter the lain area on its right bank and sweep away Ayeng village. People feel that the authority should canalize the water flow towards left side to control its erosion menace, which has not done yet. Continuous erosion of the river would grip the human habitation on right bank if an early control measure for diversion of its wave is not initiated, they said.
Some leading citizens of Mebo including the members of BJP criticized their local MLA and other ruling party leaders for not attending the erosion problem posed by the rivers.
“The Border Road Task Force (BRTF), which is entrusted to construct the roads and bridges, is not applying the right technology to control Siku river. Further, local MLA Ralom Borang and former Mebo MLA Lombu Tayeng are turning a blind eye to the problem showing their utterly irresponsible and stubborn attitude,” said Lenzing Pertin, a senior BJP leader of Mebo.
AVP conducts speaking and writing skill workshop

“All the linguistic treasure is stored in Sanskrit language, however unfortunately we were not taught Sanskrit,” Thongchi said while inaugurating the two days workshop for development of speaking and writing skills among the youngsters by Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) at Science Center here on July 13. He appealed to the youngsters to imbibe literary activities and stressed the need to conduct similar workshops on regularly.

Journalists observe protest day
ITANAGAR, Jul 15: The press fraternities of state today observed “Protest Day” to mark the completion of one year of the journalist shooting case and also to express their concern over many attacks on media.

Arunachal to get additional fund for IWMP

NEW DELHI, Jul 15: Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh today assured Arunachal Pradesh Western Parliamentary constituency member Takam Sanjoy to allocate additional fund for covering more areas under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).

GSU demands cancellation of transfer orders
ITANAGAR, Jul 15: A delegation of the Galo Students Union (GSU) led by its secretary General Binya Ronya called on the director of elementary education and registered strong protest over transfer of teachers from the schools without relievers.
The Union in its memorandum urged the DEE to cancel the transfer orders of the two ATAs of Govt Higher Secondary School, Liromoba saying that the school is already facing acute shortage of teachers.
Highlighting the ground reality of Govt. Bopu primary School and Govt. Hr. Sec. School Liromoba, the Union said that Bopu Primary school is being run by a lone teacher who is transferred to Kurung Kumey district. Panchayat coordination meeting puts emphasis on team spirit
PASIGHAT, Jul 15: In order to strengthen Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), a coordination meeting was held recently at Pasighat under the chairmanship of the East Siang ZPC Kaling Dai. The DPDO T Pada and all the ZPMs of the district were present in the meeting.
Chairman Dai stressed for close coordination among the officers and Panchayat members so that the district is taken to new heights of prosperity. He enjoined upon them to work with spirit for overall development of the people. Classrooms, teachers and pupils will continue to be seen as legitimate targets unless
there is tougher action against human rights violations, an overhaul of global aid
priorities and strengthened rights for displaced people, a new report by the United
Nations educational agency warns, urging action on behalf of 28 million children
out of school in the world's conflict zones. The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization's has recently launched a new report, Education for All Global Monitoring
Report, which shows that half of the 57 million children out of school live in conflict-
Globally, the number of children out of school has fallen from 60 million in 2008
to 57 million in 2011. However, the report underscores that the benefits of this
slow progress have not reached children in conflict-

Timely help saved a life
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I take this opportunity on behalf of my family members and relatives to express our gratefulness and profound thanks to some venerable and saintly individuals who were instrumental in saving life of my wife recently.
Due to some serious health problem, on last 30th June my wife was admitted to District Hospital Aalo and the team of doctors immediately referred her to Dibrugarh for treatment. It required an urgent air evacuation of my wife from Aalo to Dibrugarh for further treatment to save her life. The air evacuation was opportunely effected on 3rd July’ 2013 because of utmost kind and prompt action initiated by Nabam Tuki, Chief Minister & Minister Civil Aviation; Jambey Tashi Parliamentary Secretary Civil aviation; Sonam Chombey, secretary Civil Aviation; M.K. Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner Aalo; Techi Tab, Nodal Officer Civil Aviation; Tagom Taloh, SI and Hussain ADST Office Aalo which enabled timely and successful operation of my wife at Dibrugarh. Dr Goter Doke, Gynaecologist; Dr Linya Lollen, Medical Superintendent, Dr Kangkeng Jopir, SMO; Aalo were instrumental in providing local treatment and timely referring of my wife to Dibrugarh. Raja Jini, Asstt PRO, Aalo extended fullest support in liaising and other personal support and our special hanks to him.
We recognize contribution of doctors like Dr Ashok Aggarwal, Gynaecologist, Dr Antara, Gynaecologist and Aditya Hospital, Dibrugarh for having done the life saving operation and treatment upon my wife.
And lastly, we extend our heartiest gratitude to all officers and officials of Civil Aviation Department; Deputy Commissioner, Aalo and DMO, Aalo who extended their best possible service at the time of our distress and whose names we feel sorry to be not able to mention here for want of space.

Let truth be heard
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the news published on local dailies dated 17thJune 2013 under the headline “SURRENDERED ACCUSED REMANDED TO POLICE CUSTODY”. To my utter surprise, the statement given by Mr. Hura Mangha is totally fabricated and planned story to save himself and tarnish my image in my locality or society.
On that faithful night, on 22nd .February 2012 an incident took place at Kola camp forest check post. Four of us which includes my friend were having discussion around 9:30 PM. In that very moment one truck which was loaded with full of illegal timber passed through. Meanwhile one of my friend laughed loudly just for fun after cracking joke among us. Suddenly that moving truck stopped just few meters ahead of us. One of my friends went nearby truck to offer help thinking they stopped because of some problem. Instead of asking help, he suddenly took out his long sharp sword (DAO) and tried to attack one of my friends. Then my friend shouted for help and run toward me. I also tried to talk and stop him bravely but he did not even spare me. He attacks me with his DAO which I narrowly escape from fatal death. There was no other way but to defend myself. In self defense I gave him one heavy blow on his forehead, which leads him to be hospitalized. On that night we called police from Doimukh and police took him away. But the very next day on 23rd Feb 2012 they lodged an FIR against us at Doimukh police station. We were arrested by Doimukh police on the same day for assaulting him and remained in police custody for 36 hour. (He falsely claimed that we were not arrested)
After that we had invited them for settlement on mutual understanding and to bring amicable solution between us. But they refused the same. Even they were not ready for further taking the case through the police and intimidate us of dare consequence. Thereafter, case remains off without any solution between us.
On 31st March 2013 (Sunday) around 12:30 pm, (one year after the incident) I was returning back from my brother’s house. While on the way, Mr. Tarh alias Hura Mangha suddenly attacked me from back side with sharp edged Dao while I was busy talking with someone else in cell phone.
They attacked me with Dao because of which my right hand wrist was chopped off. Actually he tried to murder me but by the grace of Almighty God my precious life has been saved and I managed to escape from the spot by collecting my chopped palm. After that one of his co accused came in red colour PULSAR bike and escaped from the spot within no time. After the incident I was taken to local Hospital and later referred to Guwahati for further treatment. I would like to appeal to the law enforcement agency to take an appropriate action as per law of the land against the culprit. I am informing these episodes to the civilized people of Arunachal Pradesh to know the real story of particular incident.

Negligence caused death of young soul
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to share my grief regarding the incident which took place at Govt. Middle School, Mani. Being family member of the deceased, it saddened us to know that we have lost one of our beloved children because of negligence of school authority especially by Principal and Hostel Warden. Days have gone when children considered teacher as their second parent and teacher consider the student as their own child.
But now-
The incident which happened could have been avoided if concern authority informed
the child’s parent about his health condition. We the family member of the deceased
strongly feels that directly or indirectly the Principal and Hostel Warden will have
to be held responsible and they should resign from their job on moral ground as well
as they should be put behind the bar till the investigation is over. A deceased
gone for his home on 4th July, 2013 and his death body is found on 6th July, 2013,
in a river in Assam with multiple head injuries. The photos taken by the Assam Police
before cremation of the body, clearly indicates that the boy was murdered and dumped
in to river. Surprisingly, we the parent got information about child missing only
after one week i.e. 13th July, 2013. It is hard to believe that even in the modern
technology days this type of incident can happened. We the family member of the deceased
are totally confused, how can a teacher leave the boy alone who is sick and need
medical treatment. His friend wanted to take him up to home, but hostel warden did
not allowed him to go with deceased. They should have made a call to us and inform
that boy is leaving for home as well as they should enquire about child when he is
not coming back hostel for one week. This case is totally pre-
Lastly, we the family member of the deceased appeal all the parents who have keep their children at hostel to make inquiry about their child and do not trust teacher blindly. We do not blame all the teaching staff and we do respect sincere teachers and value them in our society.
